Max Restaino - Composer
Driven by real-life experience, Max Restaino composed the musical to help raise awareness of hereditary breast cancer and genetic mutations predisposing to breast, ovarian and prostrate cancer. Although he is not a carrier himself, Max knows all too well the effects of the BRCA1 gene mutation, which affects the women in his family. The mutation was hidden on the male side, leading to prostate cancer in men and breast and ovarian cancer in women. Astonishingly, 97% of those carrying the mutation in the UK are unaware of their predisposition. This is why Max and his family chose to write the musical, which has since been championed by Tony Christie, Miriam Margolyes, Jon Parr, Bernie Clifton, Colleen Nolan's son Shane, and many more.
